This is a basic shaped top with the front being cut from a piece of found patch worked fabric.
The blue fabric used in the back and sleeves is ponti, which is a viscose elastane blend. We have finished the neck and waist with a deep teal/petrol green ribbed fabric. The feature front is lined with a stretch poly fabric in black.
I picked up the patchwork fabric, secondhand, many years ago. I was struck by its humble and naive quality. I could imagine the maker not wanting to throw anything out, cutting squares and doing her best to turn it into something useable.The mis matching, and uneven lines, and some rough stitching, make it even more human and adorable. It has been washed. Not for those who cannot deal with uneven lines!
